We are so happy to celebrate holidays and spending time while preparing, eating and drinking, that we can forget about movies! But, I think, some people will definitely enjoy this kind of relaxation. So, 3 best movies of the week:
- National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007).
A treasure hunter Ben Gates (Nicolas Cage) is looking for the 18 pages missing from Booth’s diary, one man presents a page from John Wilkes diary. It’s very strange, that Thomas Gates (Ben’s great-grandfather) is mentioned there. Now, it is possible that Ben’s great-grandfather could know something about Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. So, Ben tries his best to find more. Many scenes took place in the White House and Mount Rushmore, Ben even wants to kidnap the President of the United States. He tries his best to clear his family name.
This adventure movie is worth your attention. The movie is full of jokes, nice characters and its the only one function is entertainment. The whole movie Ben and his friends will be looking for clues and it’ll keep you in suspense. Easy to watch and interesting. You’ll watch it and forget about it but won’t have any regrets while watching it.
- Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007)
This movie is a new adaptation of the classic musical by Stephen Sondheim. Sweeney Todd or Benjamin Barker (Johnny Depp) was sent to prison by Judge Turpin (Alan Rickman) and accused of a crime he didn’t commit. Sweeney returns to London, opens a new shop and seeks for revenge. He perfectly knows, that practice is very important, so he cuts necks of his clients and Sweeney’s girlfriend, Mrs. Lovett (Helena Bonham Carter) makes delicious pies from this “meat”.
The movie is really stunning, it gave a new life to the old musical. Jepp is really incredible, I can’t think of another actor who could have pulled off this role as well as he did. The movie is a nice mixture of satire, incredible acting and black humour. It will leave you speechless!
- Charlie Wilson’s War (2007)
The movie is based on a true story (and a true book written by George Crile). It’s all about a story of Charlie Wilson (Tom Hanks), who was a real congressman from Texas and assisting Wilson (Philip Seymour Hoffman) was a CIA operative who didn’t work in the agency. And…
Interesting and very exciting. Tom Hanks is incredible, writing is superb, both cast and director are great.

Movies of the Week: National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007)
Since National Treasure is the only real kid’s fare available, I’m sure it will get a lot of attention - I sort of enjoyed the first one, but it stole two major gags from other movies and didn’t have a lot to offer of its own. I’m skipping the sequel.
Hi, Liz! Thanks for stopping again and taking time to leave a comment. About National Treasure - I think you are right. Thanks once again. Happy Holidays!
