If you’re looking for a laugh out loud comedy to go see this week, I definitely recommend going to see “Be Kind, Rewind” starring Jack Black and Mos Def. I know that not everyone likes Jack Black movies, but this isn’t like School of Rock or any other movie that felt tailored to him. He just happens to be one of the actors that will make this movie a hit.
The gist of the movie is that Jack Blacks character, Jerry, through some hair brain scheme causes a magnetic field to erase every videotape at the video store his best friend Mike, Mos Def, works at. With Mike’s job at stake, the two team up to re-create and re-film every movie that the stores only customer, a little old lady who is a few fries short of a happy meal, wants to rent. The list of movies that they have to recreate is hilarious, ranging anywhere from “Robocop” to “The Lion King”.
Mos Def has a really dry sense of humor, as seen recently in “A Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy”, that will compliment Jack Blacks slapstick humor. The movie hasn’t seen a ton of publicity, so don’t expect it to be completely sold out this Friday, but I would go early enough to save some seats.
