Super Bad Has Super Success

SuperbadNew summer comedy “Superbad” turned to be very popular in the USA. But, at first, nobody even dared to speak about it possible success, “Superbad” was predicted to be a sleeper hit, but now the situation has completely changed, “Superbad” is a bona fide box-office favorite.

What a shit! A movie produced for less than $20 million with two dubious actors playing main roles “Superbad” became one of the most warmly accepted comedies of the summer 2007! Already in the first week it gathered $33.1 million (box-office gatherings). Although the majority of critics predicted only $25 million (during the whole season).

Judd Apatow – film-producer, is now a very respectful man in Hollywood comedy producing. Formerly, he directed “Knocked Up” and “The 40 Year-Old Virgin”. He put a stake not at the popularity of actors, but at their humor quotient. And the game was worth the candles! Apatow thinks, that the main thing in comedy is: who is funny and not who is famous. To tell the truth, it is not all about the popularity of Apatow and his former successful comedies, it is a thought-out sale strategy (large advertisement campaign 2 weeks prior the release, more than 2 million people watched it on You Tube, extensive coverage in newspapers), involving previous releases and Universal.

Let’s turn our attention to the past. “Knocked Up”: first day – $31.6 million, finally – $146. “Virgin”: first day of release – $21 million and finally – $109 million at the box office.

Plot: “The Nanny Diaries” is a very funny and worth-looking comedy with brilliant actors. It is about the life of a usual girl from New Jersey, which comes in Manhattan and became a nanny in a very rich family. After a couple of weeks, she understands that life of the elite very often has nothing in common with dolce vita. They have their own problems, despite money they turned to be so unhappy. The situation of Nanny (by the way, it is Scarlett Johansson) has to do everything as Mrs X. (Laura Linney) and her naughty son Grayer want. Moreover, she fell in love with a handsome neighbour Harvard Hottie (Chris Evans). As a result, she doesn’t know what to do with her life.

The story is very dynamic, positive and interesting! I like the trailer. It made me laugh! Scarlett is a completely another here. I even couldn’t imagine that she is capable to act in such a cute way. Also, I like a rising star – Scarlett Johansson. Scarlett is an outstanding person, she is only 23-years-old, but she already has so many awards, made so many good things and achievements. Since the childhood Scarlett was interested in acting. Her first role in a movies was in 1994 – “Laura Nelson”. Scarlett is of Danish descent. He mother and father are in divorce. Disneyland pleasantly opened his doors to Scarlett in order she to be able to celebrate her 20th birthday. In 2005 she was named one of the most sexiest women in the world. She had a cat – and his name is Trooper and a dog – Maggie. Is going to study at the University, learning everything about cinematograph. Adores Woody Allen.

The Last Legion in Action

Despite various views onto the following movie, it is already made and ready to go into release. Nevertheless, the costumes are stunning, the play of actors is rather good and actors are wonderful. There are a lot of trailers to this movie, but most of all I liked this one with one of my favourite actresses Aishwarya Rai. Look at her play – it is brilliant, so true!

As for me, each movie has both supporters and opponents, it means that this movie is thought-provoking, and, at least, noticeable, worth-speaking, because people think about it. Of course, it is neither so beautiful, nor so far-reaching as the other movies about the Roman Empire, but it is not so bad, as well!

The last legion

Plot: Beautiful and touching movie about the Roman Empire. Romulus Augustus (by the way, 12-year-old ) became the emperor of Rome, but his reigning lasted only for 1 day. Afterwards, the whole Empire turned into chaos. He went away to the island of Capri and decided to spend their the rest of his live there, but a sudden event disturbs his plans – he finds a famous sword of Julius Caesar, a so-called “excaliburnus”. And the story begins…

The release date of this film (as you can see) the 17th of August 2007, but real premiere (and the first one) took place in Russia at the 21st of APRIL!!! To tell the truth, I haven’t watched it yet, but opinions from the Russians are rather pessimistic. They told this movie to be a completely soul-less, uninteresting and disappointed. And the end was stunning. Not in a good sense of this word. “The Last Legion” didn’t impress them.

But I like actress Aishwarya Rai. She is very beautiful and talented. She was born in a typical Indian family on the 1st of November 1973. Since the childhood she was a model and an often star in advertisements. In 1994 she became Miss India and then Miss World. Afterwards, she tried herself in Indian film-industry and finally found her destination. Her eyes are amazing – they are of unusual colour – green-grey. She had a lot of awards. her most famous campaigns are Pepsi-ads and Vogue magazine interview. She was a girl-friend of Salman Khan. Adores watches. While studying at college her favourite subject was Zoology. In 203 became an official ambassador from the L’Oreal. Knows 5 languages and gets at least 1 movie offer each day. In 2004 the Times Magazine named her as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. She was a member of the Jury in Cannes in 2003.
