If I ask you who Robert Englund is, you might not be able to answer. But if I ask who Freddy Krueger is, you will instantly say he is the one who played the role of a serial killer in eight movies which includes the original movie released in 1984. Robert Englund is recognized all over world as Freddy Krueger and now he is celebrating his 25 years of association with the series.
Born in California, Englund started doing theatre and played Shakespeare, Pinter, Shaw and Tennessee Williams and then moved ahead. He worked with directors like John Leone and Bob Rafelson. The character of Freddy gave Englund a chance to show his versatility and his darker side to the world. He has been a part of horror films and action films and doing justice to all his characters. Robert said “There’s something wonderful about sitting in the dark with other people and have that collective catharsis.”
Englund saw the release of Hollywood monster this fall in which he successfully scared people by putting on heavy makeup. He got international stardom by playing the character Freddy in series of horror roles which includes Jack Brooks Monster Slayer and many more. We will surely see him more in near future, though Jackie Earle Haley of the Scream films might play the role of scary serial killer in the remake of original Nightmare on Elm Street.
